Grayson Hayes
(Throughout His Growin’ Days)
Dreams of a little baby boy began right away,
When Julie and Brian cut in to the blue cake that day.
Deciding on his name took quite a long while,
But there was so much to do as they decorated his room in style.
Many trips to Storkland, Cinnamon Bears and Babies R’ Us, too;
Looking on-line for furniture and just the right colors of blue;
So all would match perfectly from bumper pads to curtains.
Finally it was almost done; but still no name for the baby was certain.
Pondering, thinking, asking what does this name mean;
And what new name from this book can we glean?
But they kept coming back to one name above all,
And finally finished his room, when they hung GRAYSON on the wall!
Time went by, one doctor visit after another;
Measuring growth, heart rate and health of baby and mother.
Finally to the hospital one night they went,
Only to find out, back home they’d be sent.
“Does this pain mean that…?” and… “Are you sure all is fine?”
“I just don’t feel quite right and there’s a lot on the line.”
Heading back home knowing, all was not right;
Figured they’d be back to the hospital that night.
Hardly able to walk and pain so strong,
Brian had to carry her and help her along.
Finally in her bed; where she hoped to stay,
Didn’t last long. Soon they were on their way.
Yes….back to the hospital, as they figured they would;
This time they kept her, as they knew they should.
Not dilated too far, but labor kicking in;
Julie was not going back home that night, again!
After hours in labor and the family standing by;
Soon they were looking in the nursery where baby Grayson lie.
It was a wonderful day on October 15th, 2009;
When Grayson Hayes life began, so fine!
He’s now sixteen months and going strong;
From sitting up, crawling, walking and now running right along!
Every time Grayson would figure it out,
Brian and Julie would clap no doubt.
So…when Grayson took his first step, his first lap,
He would take a step; then sit down and clap!
Oh….he was so happy and proud;
He loved to hear his parents clap for him so loud!
Now he is talking, saying Dada, Mama,
Papa, Mamo, Ichard and Nana.
He knows his animals and can imitate them anytime.
He knows his colors…red & blue but not lime.
My heart just melts each time I see his smile;
As he runs right to me and I hold him for a while.
He always takes my hand and shows me the way,
And if he can get me outside, that’s where he likes to stay!
This is a poem about our sweet little Grayson Hayes.
Guess I’ll keep adding to it… Throughout His Growin’ Days!
